The NHS Digital Technology Assessment Criteria (DTAC) gives staff, patients and citizens confidence that the digital health tools they use meet NHS clinical safety, data protection, technical security, interoperability and usability and accessibility standards. As the national baseline criteria for digital health technologies entering into the NHS and social care, it has been designed to be used by healthcare organisations to assess suppliers at the point of procurement or as part of a due diligence process.  

Whilst confusion exists amongst the supplier community, adherence to this standard does align with common Information Governance considerations of NHS organisations and should be considered by suppliers as an essential element of their compliance portfolio.  

For many suppliers, understanding the DTAC in context of their product is challenging but in this talk we will unpack the common pitfalls for product owners in complying with the criteria and share our experience in co-creating compliant, high-quality submissions that have been validated by NHSE and NICE.
