The Department of Health and Social Care published its first Medical Technology Strategy on 3rd February 2023. The strategy set out the Government’s vision for the right product, at the right price, in the right place, and the four priorities to deliver this vision:
• ensuring resilience and continuity of supply of medtech products;
• supporting innovation and encouraging thriving, dynamic markets;
• developing enabling infrastructure; and
• specific focuses on key issues and markets, beginning with a focus on diagnostics and medtech in the community.
David Lawson, Director of Medical Technology, will provide an overview of the Medical Technology Strategy and a progress update on the implementation initiatives to fulfil the vision. This will include recent progress to develop the innovation pathway, to address the challenges surrounding adoption of innovative devices into the health and care sector.
